Cokesbury’s Vision:

Welcome to Cokesbury United Methodist Church online! We strive to become a community of passionate worshipers living as the Body of Christ growing as disciples to make disciples—of Jesus Christ.

News @ Cokesbury:

Christmas Caroling

CUMC will go Christmas caroling on Saturday, December 13 at 3pm. We will gather, split into groups, carol for our shut-ins and give them cards and goodies, then come back for cocoa and cookies. All are welcome, regardless of vocal talent.

Joint Sunday School until January for Youth and Adults

Meet at 9:30 in the Fellowship Hall for refreshments and fellowship, then I will begin a series teaching “What’s so important about Christmas, anyway?” All you need are your Bibles and an interest in learning about how each different Gospel approaches the birth of Christ. We will be having a special Sunday school class for the children; the study is for youth and adults.

Christmas Program Sunday, December 21

The choir is working hard on a beautiful cantata, and the youth have written a fantastic play, “Christmas Time Warp”. We need shepherds and angels for the nativity scene. If you have any little ones out there who would like to dress up as shepherds or angels please let Julia know. They will not have spoken parts, but pantomime the story as Luke 2 is read. Please consider loaning a child or grandchild to the church for our production!

Youth Calendar Sale

The youth are selling some beautiful 2015 calendars to raise money for Pilgrimage. They make great Christmas presents. See one of our youth today to place your order.

Sunday, November 30 is the first Sunday of Advent

This is the month of remembering that we are all waiting for the Light of the World, Jesus, to finally overcome the darkness of this world. So we light candles on the Advent Wreath, lights on the tree, and sing carols of hope and joy. We have Advent devotional booklets for each family, Advent calendars for the children, and special services each week until Christmas. We should be preparing our hearts for Christ the first priority this month!

Saves the Dates:

  • Saturday, December 13 @ 3pm: Christmas Carolina
  • Saturday, December 21 @ 5pm: Christmas Cantata “Hallowed Manger Ground” followed by an original Youth Christmas play
