Welcome to Cokesbury United Methodist Church online! We strive to become a community of passionate worshipers living as the Body of Christ growing as disciples to make disciples—of Jesus Christ.
News @ Cokesbury:
Change the World Day
We will be meeting at the church tomorrow at 8AM to work on a couple of mission projects: Continuing our work at Carver Elementary School with sprucing up landscaping, and helping repair a porch and roof of some elderly neighbors over on Carver School Road. Most of the work will be done by lunchtime, so come on out and be the hands and feet of Christ on Saturday morning!
High-school Senior Recognition Day
Sunday is the day we will recognize our graduates, give scholarship awards, and welcome the young people who will be professing their faith and joining the church in a service of confirmation. Please come and support the young people this week!
Are you called to bring the Gospel to children?
We have been asked if we are interested in bringing the “Joy Club” to Carver Elementary School. This is a ministry of gathering interested children, with their parents’ permission, every Thursday after school to learn Bible lessons, pray, and understand more about Jesus. This is a non-denominational ministry that is active in most of the schools in Vance County. A curriculum of all the materials is provided—all that is required is adults willing to give two hours per week to these children. If you feel the Spirit nudging you to be involved in this ministry, please let Pastor Julia know.
Support Ashlyn Matthews in her Haiti mission
Ashlyn Matthews has been called to go on a short term mission trip to Haiti this June and would appreciate your prayers and encouragement. The mission team is also collecting the following items by donation: individually wrapped candies, tooth brushes, small toys, reading glasses, scarves, and flip flops. If you feel lead to financially contribute to Ashlyn’s trip, see Ashlyn or Sherri for more information. Thank you for your support!
